V2 Events: Test_Lab: Live_Coding

Test_Lab: Live_Coding will feature debates and presentations on Live Coding, a networked code jamming performance, live coded music, introductions and hands-on experiences in Live Coding programming languages for code improvisation, and a live coded Augmented Reality experience.

Performance: NIME

In the sixth annual NIME end-of-semester performance, students will perform on a series of newly designed electronic instruments that aim to keep the "live" in live performance of digital music. The NIME performances are presented by ITP instructors Jamie Allen and Gideon D'Arcangelo. ITP students from R. Luke DuBois' "Algorithmic Composition" class will present installations and performances as part of the evening's proceedings.

Performance: Dancing in Second Life

In this session, Second Life avatars will dance with improvised music from Real Life at ISIM. Real Life performers are Pauline Oliveros - electronics, harmonica & small instruments with spoken word artist Ione & dancer Heloise Gold. Second Life performance will feature animations and choreography by Josephine Dorado, John D. Mitchell, Edo Paulus, Christine Benham, Lauren Watson and Sean Nevin - performing from Arizona, New York, and Amsterdam. Images and sounds of the performers from Real Life will be projected into Second Life and vice versa, creating a mashup of real and virtual improv for both audiences.

AMPLIFIED BODIES?... BODY, ART AND TECHNOLOGY: REVIEWING CROSSROADS AND EMERGENT TERRITORIES IN LATECAPITALISM

Critical intersections of art, technology and the body.

The workshop will attempt to generate a transdisciplinary platform of exchange for a multidisciplinary group of participants, both professionals, students and wider public, adressing:

-arts disciplines in the context of new media including performance arts, dance and technology, visual arts, music and sound based arts, architecture and space arts, and text based arts.
-critical theory discourses including gender and sexuality studies, media studies, postcolonial and cultural studies, cyberfeminism, ecology, and other fields; as well as their relation to the political.
-technology, instrument making, and in particular, technological development in the context of HCI (Human Computer Interaction), movement analysis, gestural control, etc.
