photojpeg is a progressive codec, and DV is an interlaced codec. I suggest using motionjpeg b. Your ingesting into FCP does not seem to be an issue. A 1Ghz G4 does not have much room for overhead, and as per discussions earlier, Jitter can be tricky with playback. Try direct to window method. If it plays back smooth there, you will have to tweak your max patch. See my post in the stutter thread about settings for HD playback, it should apply for any media type on any system to make things better.
