[jitter] fps all over the place in Max5

I'm testing out Jitter right now in Max5 for the first time using the jit.op help file. For some reason, the fps oscillates between 6-15fps. I have overdrive turned on, otherwise all the settings are straight from the install. I am running Max 5 on a 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo Macbook Pro w/ OS X 10.5.2. This patch runs at 30fps in Max 4.6.3 / Jitter 1.6.2.

Is there a way to optimize the scheduler? Any advice?
