My first idea for the project was to track colours, but i had lots of difficulty with lighting conditions - the objects would randomly drop out of pictures/tracking if there was too much/too little light on them...Unfortunately it is a bit late for me to change the project to track colour, although it is something i will look into further.. I chose to mount the LED's and track their blobs as this allows me to, within reason, work out the orientation of the box, so I therefore get X and y data, but also a 'twist' function - my initial idea was to control a filter with it x = centre freq y = gain twist = Q value So if I am, for example, using a bandpass filter, I can norrow in on a particular band with a Q from 1 through to 20, chosen by how far the box is twisted around - I currently have it so that if the blobs appear horizontally, the output is 0, and with blobs vertically, the output is 100. Thanksfor all your help so far - I really do appreciate it.
