Ah! EJ, thanks a lot, I didn't know about symout.. should have checked out the reference some more.


gusano, the idea of tosymbol/fromsymbol is that they add/remove quotes only when there are spaces in the string. It's confusing, and to fully understand the background of this, you need to get into programming externals.

Btw this misunderstanding is shared by every beginning (and even intermediate) maxer, which I interpret as a hint that the symbol/string/datatype model of max is not ideal. Or at least that proper documentation is missing.
