In addition to the resources you named, you might want to look at the 55 list at bek.no, which archives discussion of the nato55. Nato was a 3rd party library that worked in conjunction with Max to provide QuickTime-based video processing well before Jitter came around. You could also do interesting stuff with the stock lcd object, which has a venerable history.
