With OSX you can created several sessions (system preferences -> user
account), every user can log into his account

I use twe sessions (llike two users) - one for myu professional work
(i am programming max)- like administrator and another one for my
personal use (my personal e-mail, files, etc....) - standard

Does it mean I need switch from one to the other - to check my e-
mail, etc...

ok , sorry, note realy clear; I tried explain it like this:

I use many controlers and differnets interfaces (MOTU midiexpress
128, MIDISPORT 8x8, MIDISPORT 4x4, etc...)
it's changing and not like in home studio where you have the same
machine... no problem when I change the interfaces!

it's why in my max applications I use avery time the same names:
"a" (for input from 1th cable), "b" (for input from 2nd cable), etc.....

Of course i assign the names off the controlerrs in AudioMIDI Setup
like a, b, c, .....

and in this way you can put the abrev like a same name (name "a" have
abreviaation "a")

In Max "MIDI setup" I have:

Input device Output Device Abrev
a a a
b b b
c c c
etc...

for each cable comming from one controler

this is the only solution I found to use the same preferences with PC
and windows Max.

in this situation you have MIDI input very simple, for exemple:

"ctlin a 1 12"

does it mean you are filtering your MIDI input from cable "a" only
and from channel 1 and ctl number 12.

All is working well when youo are into the same session, but when I
change the session (I log into my personal session) and I come back
to my session with max open, the MIDI messages are not filtering at all!

When I mouve a MIDI controler there are no output from "ctlin a 1 12"
but there are output from "ctlin" without arguments...........

The only way -> restart Max.............. or never changge the
session.......... :-(

It's not interface pb - it's work and MIDI messagers arrive into Max

it's someetthingg internal intto Max I think - when you change the
user session you cut of some processing, and it''s not realy
restoring inside Max

Hope it's more clear now.... ;-)
