[maxmsp] odd symbol printed to Max window

Just in the past couple of days I've been getting an odd symbol posted to the Max window. It happens when the patch loads, and occationally when certain events are triggered. It looks like a % sign, but with an extra 'o' at the bottom (you can make it on the mac with shift-option-r ...it won't show up right if I type it here). I have no rogue print messages (plus there is no ":" following it. I'm in the process of deleting chunks of my patch to see if I can't isolate it, but in the meantime was curious if any one else had seen this? Latest version of everything MaxMSP, 10.4.9. Happens both on my macbook pro and mac pro.
