[maxmsp] Absolute newbie question

Hey guys and gals,

I've worked with Max/MSP for all internal things...now I'm trying external things. Can anyone steer me in the direction of getting max to toggle an LED on a breadboard on/off? I'm using a Parallax Board of Education that has a BASIC Stamp 2 and a breadboard built into it. The BOE uses a serial connection. Anything would help as this is just one step to hooking up all kinds of sensors.
