[maxmsp] Newbie...pain in the ass question

Hi all, a year ago i bought a Basicx Bx24p, i have a board and a serial
cable, i tryed to download to Bx-24 the program that would convert the
eletric signal to midi...and i just qet error messages, like critical data
error, i don't have knowledge enough to find the solution...i searched in
physical computing and in some sites, but i just can't find a way to do
it...Can anyone help me with this? Is there like a step by step tutorial to
do this ? Where can i find it ?
