yeah sorry for not being more clear but the audio buffer break-up happens in apps other than Max/MSP as well Peak, iTunes, VLC (the worst), and Quicktime Player all crackle/ glitch when I have either several audio apps open (not playing) or I'm playing audio while chatting or doing something online and this is a recent development something I've noticed in the last couple of months or so and typically can be cured by shutting down Adium/Firefox and/or extra audio apps running so I'm guessing that a recent OS update might have some CoreAudio 'fixes' that might be causing this?
