ok, after a little bit of titting around with MAX/MSP 5. i have come up with a few groovy things that the cats at Cycling 74 have done great in the fields on the new release I have put down 7 quick things that are great about the new Max/MSP 5. And with good cause. I have been on Max/MSP 5 for only about 20 minutes (in between time working at the Studio). Most likely more good things are going to add to the list, but this is just a quick list. For one, and one which i think everyone can agree with, newbies and pro's alike. Is that they have put the documentation inside Max/MSP. which i think is a great idea. Instead of finding the tutorial then loading it up in Preview or some other medium, both for Max/MSP and Jitter. That is great. Two. Obviously it has to be the clean, curves and colors look. Three. The ease of use, i can see myself not getting sleep now that it is much easier. Four. The info tab that pops up when you hover over a connection. It is great for someone like myself and i think for everyone. It basically is like a teacher telling you what each and every connection does whilst you work, great. Fast work/play mode Five. Presentation mode. Wonderful. Just a simple click and your there. This is going to be great when doing live gigs and the such. And also placing where you want your objects and messages before you lock it. I cant wait to get back on stage with this beast. Six. Snap to grid helps make everything link nicer together. So you can always have a nice patch. No more going back to edit. Seven. The object window, now is just a simple double click on the screen and just 'pick-n-mix'
