See for me, clicking a patch that's been attached to a forum message and 
having Max 5 open it up seems pretty easy and painless, especially if I 
don't have Max running. It definitely seems like less work than 
selecting the patch text, copying it to my clipboard, possibly launching 
Max, then hitting Ctrl-Alt-N. I don't presume to think that my working 
habits are like others, but this is where I'm coming from.

Making it happen definitely will not be taking up much of *my* time, 
hence the request for someone, for whom this feature might be really 
important, to figure out a solution, with as much support as I can give 
them short of doing any programming myself.

Mostly I just want clean, easy-to-navigate discussion archives. Large 
inline patches, and especially, quoted-in-the-reply large inline 
patches, run counter to this goal.
