Re:New - Digital arts forum announces Re:New 2008 in Copenhagen,
Denmark, with the theme 'Genesis of Meaning in Digital Art'.

Re:New 2008 runs over eight days May 16-23 and consists of festival,
conference, pocket-film competition, and various workshops - www.re-new.dk

We would very much like you to submit digital art-work and paper
proposals for presentation, and of course join in, if you should happen
to be nearby in the period.

--The Festival will include app. 30 presentation opportunities for
digital art in the areas of music, video, performance, and installations
as well as any cross-breeds of these. A 5x12x1 meter AV-monolith will be
set up on Copenhagen City Square to submit proposals for, and further
performances and screening will take place ao. at an Omnimax Theatre and
at the public swimming-pool 'The Elipse', as well as various clubs,
halls, cinemas, and other spaces. Submission are made at
www.re-new.dk/index.php?pid=7 where details of venues and performance
forces as well as other practical info can be found. All submissions are
anonymous and jury evaluated.

Submission deadline is February 17, 2008.

--The Conference is joint CMMR (Computer Music Modelling and Retrieval)
and NTSMB (Network for Cross-Disciplinary Studies of Music and Meaning).
Paper topics are in the areas of auditory perception and cognition; user
interfaces for music; philosophy, culture and psychology;
infrastructures for music; indexing and retrieval of music; structuring
of music data; collaboration on music; analysis, recognition,
comparison, classification, and modelling of music; mining and
visualizing music; synthesis and/or composition of music; performance of
music; and artificial intelligence/life for music. Paper review is
blinded, and accepted paper are printed in Springer Verlag's 'Lecture
Notes on Computer Science' series. Submission are made at
www.re-new.dk/index.php?pid=6 where details of topics, jury, and
schedule as well as other practical info can be found.

Submission deadline is February 17, 2008.

--The Workshops start on Thursday May 15 and will be on the upcoming Max
5, advanced jitter, max/msp beginner (all presented jointly with
cycling74 staff), interactive circus performance, circuit bending & live
coding, and electronica/electroacoustic duos. Details will be announced
during January at www.re-new.dk.

--The Pocket-film Competition is for the cell-phone format, and 60
second movies can be uploaded to www.re-new.dk/index.php?pid=8 from
February 1st. Prizes are awarded in several categories, as well as an
audience prize awarded by - you!
