It can be confusing that fader values are sent out the audio object when you drag a fader in a plugin interface, but this data is more like a copy of the input that the audio object -receives- from any source (mostly automation and the plugin interfaces). Also I didn't succeed in feeding any fader values back into the same audio object to control a plugin in any way. You could of course use max standalone to send midi data to logic that is converted to fader values in the environment..
