[pluggo] Tutorial Files - fragload adc~, doesn't understand "package"

The first tutorial file for Pluggo development (and the second, haven't tested beyond) fails on my system:

OSX 10.4.9, PPC
MAX/MSP 4.6.2, the upgraded to 4.6.3 (same result on both)
Pluggo 3.6.1 (unregistered)
 
Using the Tutorial P1 file
Save as VST plug (creating "Tutorial P1.vst")
Move this file to /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST/Pluggo
Run AudioUnit Scan.app (succesfully)

In both Spark LE and Digital Performer 5.01, pluggin is selectable and loadable in both VST and AU formats.

However, instead of parameter sliders, a message appears saying there were two errors. In the AU format, switching to the Max Window view:

* doesn't understand "package"
* can't fragload adc~

(Actually, if the Pluggo VSTs are in the Pluggo folder, both Spark and DP hang when trying to load them. I don't really care about this, because I'm just trying to make my own plugin. So I've removed all of the Pluggo plugins.)
