You might have found it already yourself, but did you ever look at the metro help file? If anything isn't working as you expect, that's the first thing to do. If you send BPM values to metro, metro still will interpret them as milliseconds, and 120 ms is a pretty short time... There is also a tempo object which will be probably closer to what you'd expect metro to do...
