The cs3 update seems to have solved the crash at laucnh issue.

I reinstalled Pluggo both bot on HD (PPC) and LE (Intel) and they launched now fine..

But the audiosuite issue (-36 error) is still there.....

Hi, all!
I got this strange error that results in that no pluggos that begins with the letter S and more loads into Logic 8. That means that pluggos named from A to R are working, but the rest do not show up in the menus, or can be found by the Audio Unit validation application. So far I've tried the following things, but to no avail:
1) Removing the audio unit cache
2) Re-installing pluggo (latest version from the website)
3) Re-installing the AU Scan application (latest version from the website)

Does anyone have a grasp on wtf is going on?

My set up:
Logic 8
Max/Msp 4.6.3
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Mac G5 2 x 1,8 Ghz
1 Gb Ram

Hey there,
does anybody know if it's possible to make a drop-down menu with the pp-object and a 'choices' argument?
I use for example: 'pp 1 waveform 0 2 choices saw triangle square' as an object, but I get an x-slider (in my plug-in) on which I can choose, but I would like to have a drop-down on which I can choose if it's a saw, triangle or square.

Is that possible? And if it is, how?

Not in the default ('eggslider') view - you would have to configure your
plugconfig so that you would be in Max interface view, ie. #C useviews 0 1 1
1; 
 Then it's just a matter of hooking up a <pp 1 waveform 0 2 choices saw tri
squ> to a umenu object (not a ubumenu,btw, 'cos Pluggo doesn't like them)

in garageband, whenever a track with a pluggo effect begins or ends playing, i hear a brief popping noise and then the audio completely drops out (for every track, not just the one that's selected).

I have just installed Pluggo version 3.61 onto a PowerMac G5 running OS X 10.4.11.  The PowerMac also has radiaL 1.35 installed and Cubase SX 3.  Once Pluggo was installed Cubase would crash during program startup as the result of an exception error which was being caused by the Pluggo plugins which were originally installed by radiaL.  If I remove the radiaL plugins from the Pluggo plugin folder Cubase launches fine.  This would not be a problem if radiaL could use the Pluggo plugins from version 3.61 but as soon as I try to load one of them into radiaL the program crashes.

I have tried uninstalling Pluggo with the C74 Plug-in Cleaner and reinstalling radiaL but the Cubase error still occurs.  Is this a known issue?  It seems that prior to the Pluggo install Cubase just ignored the radiaL plugins but now it will not start with them present in the VST folder.

I try to use the GUI-object "levelmeter" in a Pluggo (for a nice  
level to dB conversion).
I does not work in the host (Live 7.02), is it because of the GUI ?
Sometimes I got it to work when I hide the object in the max-patch  
and then building a pluggo.

Setup: MacBookPro-Intel, OS X.4.11/MaxMSP 4.63/Pluggo 3.61/Live 7.0.2

hi all -
I'm trying to use the tapped delay plugin in PT for a very simple thing, but I can't get it to work.
Essentially, the piece begins with a very quick delay at the beginning that continues throughout, while other things build up around it.
When I use the "host sync," the sync time is an integer, when in fact it needs to be a float (technically, it needs to be 113.43 ms).  The effect using the host sync though, is that by the end up the piece, the delay is out of sync with everything else (that .43ms adds up).
I've tried it using the free delay function, but whenever I do this, it always snaps back to the default 1000ms spot.  I've tried it in Live as well, and it still doesn't work.  It seems like there's something about having a tempo-based program that locks at the capability of using the free delay?
I could use the standard PT delay, but then I can't dynamically shape the sound the way I want as with tapped delay.
Any ideas?

I saw a post that dates back to August 06, but I am having a similar problem now. I have written a pluggin in Max that does midi processing (no audio) It loads fine on a Wintel machine running XP but won't show up on my new Macbook Pro running Leopard 10.5.2; 2.2 Ghz processor, 4 gigs memory, latest version of Kore 2.02. Korwe seems to scan the plugin but it doesn't show in the Database. On the other hand, the same build shows up in the Windows version of Kore.

I didn't use it too deeply, I bought it more out of curiosity and geek wow factor.  It works well enough for me, but I'm the furthest thing from a real turntablist.  As far as spinning video with it, well, 30 fps is 30 fps even if you play it back at 1 frame a second.  Video will always look "stepped" and animated when you slow it down.  And I don't think anything like subframe inbetween creation would be anywhere near realtime.

But no matter what, it's fun as hell to play with.

As for audio, I haven't a clue, I didn't use it for any audio.
If I were a Max User/Turntablist.  This would be a must have.

Cool thanks Donk. Your video is cool for someone with little experience. Fair dues. The video function is not really what I'm after. I'm going to try and use it with processing, although, why I'm bringing all this programming on myself I don't know. I only started programming 6 months ago and failed my first java exam. But anyway I'll struggle on.

There doesn't seem to be too many Pinky users here? It'd be great to hear peoples opinions on her "usability" with their own patches. I think I should start a new thread though..

It is the same plugin set that is installed by Pluggo Junior.  Average Injector, Chamberverb, etc...

With Pluggo and radiaL both installed on my system two versions of the radiaL plugins exists in the VST/Pluggo folder.  The newer pluggo installed version will have a .vst extension, the older radiaL installed version does not have an extension.  If I remove the version which does not have a file extension Cubase will boot fine but radiaL crashes when the pluggo installed plugins are loaded.  If I leave both versions of the plugins in the VST/pluggo folder Cubase will crash with an exception error but radiaL is able to load the original radiaL plugins (it will still crash when loading the other Pluggo plugins).  Is radiaL version 1.35 incompatible with the current version of Pluggo?

Hi Bruce,

I checked on my system (MBPro, OS X4.11/Kore2.02), if I can load a  
"selfmade" MIDI-Pluggo PlugIn.
After updating in Kore2-software the PlugIn shoes up !
But a strange thing is, if I move the Hardware-Control.Knobs, in Kore- 
software the parameter are moving, but not in the Pluggo.
Moving the knobs in the Kore-software, then the parameters in the  
Pluggo are moving.
So I tried this with other Pluggu Plugins (f.e.)
- ring modulator (VST) shows the same odd behaviour
- LongStereoDelay worked well.

This is only a rudimentary load-check, no audio was checked.

So - The Authorize Pluggo app does *nothing* but sit in the dock even after I've followed the suggestions mentioned on the Twiki page re: installing new iLok scripts, etc. I'm not using an iLok but I thought I'd give it a whirl and...no luck. I'm this short of asking for my $99 back.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Please delete all that stuff, download the radiaL 1.5 UB beta and install the latest Pluggo jr, you should be fine.

Hallo,

Does anybody have some experience with building MIDI controllable plug-ins under Logic (Audio Unit)?

I moving from PC to MAC/Logic and trying to rebuild some of my "creations" which are often based on midi cc features.

As written in manual: "Audio Unit MIDI controlled effects are inserted into the Instruments slot of instrument channels. The audio signal that you would like to process is then selected via the plug-in's Side Chain menu."

So this seems to be little bit different approach then under the Cubase. I think I also read somewhere that plug-in must support side chain function... {?}

Plug-in is not "visible" under the instruments slot. And if i tried to "sign" it as synth it just started to generate kind of "feedback" (probably not surprisingly].

Thank you for any hint on this topic.
I hope it could be interesting for some other developers too...

Probably the only way you'll be able to make it happen will be to make 2 plugs. One is a synth which receives MIDI and sends it to an audio effect plug using a send/receive object pair. Or you could make a small standalone app to receive MIDI and route the data to your plug over OSC.

thank you for your reply :o) i think it is really great and actually effective idea (as it seems to still go in the logic of Logic)! i will try to experiment with it... and will let you know if it works or not.
 
btw: just to summ up the issue.
under logic there are following versions of AU:

instrument,
effect,
generator,
midi controlled effect

...

so theoretically it would have to be possible to "set up" plug-in under the plugconfig in the same sort of way as eg. instruments have to be signed as "synth". but then there is side chaining issue + fact that au is just wrapped version of vst. so i suppose it is not so easy way to go. but who knows maybe in future cycling starts to be interested in Logic support more :o)

In the Live user interface, there is a 'save preset or bank' button (a 
little disk icon) on each device (as viewed in your effects chain), to 
the right of the 'load preset' button.

So I see that there have been threads in the past dedicated to this topic, but it doesn't seem like there's been any word on when this will be fixed.  My issue is the same as others' - that pluggo loads fine as a VST but there's no way to automate or even adjust settings, which makes it a bit useless.  Fortunately I have some ways of getting around this for now, although they're a little clumsy.

I guess what I'm asking is what's the status?  Any chance there'll be a fix on the horizon?  Is Steinberg still keeping schtumm about he VST 3 protocol (which I understand is part of the problem, though according to their website as of January it should have been open to everyone)?

Hi, Roger.  I haven't seen any error messages.  I probably just didn't set this up correctly.  What I meant to say in my previous post was that I don't know at all how to set up Pro Tools to work with VST instruments.  I don't really know what ReWire is or how it works.  Sorry I can't help you with that error.  What I need to know is specifically how to set up ReWire, Pluggo, and MultiVST to be used in Pro Tools LE 6.5.3 -- I'm kind of a newbie with this kind of stuff. Protools can't use VST plugins w/o 3rd party help. There's a "converter" by FXpansion, but it need PT 7 or higher.

Rewire is probably installed and basically ready to use w/o you even knowing it (unless PT 6.x didn't have rewire, I can't remember), it's kind of an invisible connection between your PT master, and whatever rewired app slave.

You may have better luck searching through or posting in digidesign's support forum.

OK, having sorted out my ReWire problem by reinstalling ReWire from the Propellerheads site, I've now run a test with VST Shell and I'm happy to say it's all working fine here (even the arpeggiator sync works!).
 
It's been a while since I'd tried it, but basically I just followed my own instructions in the VST Shell ReadMe, ie:

"1. Launch Pro Tools
2. Launch VST Shell and click the Audio Driver button - select the ad_rewire driver, load your VSTi & switch DSP on.
3. In Pro Tools create a new (stereo) track and in the insert menu select max/msp. Audio from VST Shell should now appear on the new track, and  with sync enabled, the arpeggiator should slave to Pro Tools
4. To record the result to pro Tools whilst monitoring it, send the track to a bus, then create a new stereo track and select that bus as it's input. Bring the level up with the bus send, and record onto the new track."

As an addendum, I would say create the PT track with ReWire receiver /before/ turning on the DSP in VST Shell - it's no big deal, but you'll get an error message in the status window about the ReWire mixer not being on if you do it the other way round.
 Also, as I'm using PT 7.3 now, the track insert is found under 'Instruments' and of course it will say "VST Shell 3.6" , not "max/msp"

Of course we're only talking VST /instruments/ here, though you can use the Shell's built-in FX matrix to send the VSTi's through VST effects.

The test set-up I used is as follows: G5 Dual 2GHz running OS 10.4.11, the latest version of VST Shell (Jan 07), Max/MSP Runtime 4.6.3, Pluggo Jr. 3.6.1, Pro Tools LE 7.3.1cs6

VST Shell is a standalone application - it should just open when you double
click it's icon. 

 What you will have to install, if you wish to use it with Pro Tools (though
you may already have it, if you use Reason or Live, for example) is ReWire.
I only just recently realised that I completely missed this in the ReadMe -
duh!
 You can get the ReWire installer from http://tinyurl.com/2enhtq
 It's also not a bad idea to have Pluggo Runtime (or Jr.) installed, to
enable correct initialisation - see the note in the second paragraph of the
ReadMe. I am assuming, btw, that you are using the latest version (updated

Sorry, yes - it's a Mac app. I may, one day get round to building a Windows
version, but for now you're out of luck.
 I'll download WinMax and see if it will run under Parallels, but I'm a bit
busy atm, so you might just want to have a look and see if there's anything

i made this midi cc editor for a hardware synth in max and i'm trying to port it to pluggo so i can load it as a vst but when i put the dll in my vst folder ableton can't see them. i have successfully built and run midi vsts made with pluggo before. ok i just noticed that midiparse and midiformat aren't supported in pluggo (pluggodevguide.pdf appendix a) even though tutorial p8 and p9 use them. This is retarded.

I found this guy has the same problem

When I remove the objects my patch compiles and loads, shame given I really need those objects.

Yeah - midiparse and midiformat work fine in plugs.

Ignore that entry in the dev guide - sorry about that.

Do your plugs have the same ID? If they do then the host will only load one of them.

Check inside plugconfig.

Hello all

I have a problem with Pluggo latest version & my protools. I have mac os X.5.2 with all the updates, I have the latest version of pluggo & latest of Protools ( 7.4 cs3). My protools works fine but it's impossible to use pluggo. When I launch in audiosuite or insert mode, The pluggo crash my protools. 

Someone has an idea ? Thanks all

Currently Audiosuite is not supported.  As a workaround, you can bounce 
the track to disk using effects.

If you are having other issues, please let us know.

I'm having trouble getting new plugins to load in Protools 7.4.  All the original Pluggo plugins load fine, but none of the tutorial plugins load.  I just went through the tutorials using Logic to test them and it worked fine.  According to the development guide, they should just show up as RTAS plugins.  They are in the Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Pluggo folder.  I've looked all over in Protools on mono and stereo tracks.  What am I missing?
