Installation and Authorization of Jitter

Max/MSP is already authorized. How do I authorize Jitter?

To authorize Jitter after Max/MSP has already been authorized, you need to bring up the Pace authorization dialog box.

Mac: Throw away the "J-offer-x" file (located in the Preferences folder of the Library folder inside your home directory). Next, hold down the Control and Command keys while starting up the application. This will bring up the Pace authorization dialog box.

Windows: If Max/MSP is already authorized, hold down the Shift-Control-C keys while starting up the application. This will bring up the Pace authorization dialog box.

Now that I've upgraded Jitter, how do I authorize it?

You need to bring up the Pace authorization dialog box.

Mac: Hold down the Control and Command keys while starting up the application. This will bring up the Pace authorization dialog box.

Windows: Hold down the Shift-Control-C keys while starting up the application. This will bring up the Pace authorization dialog box.

I tried out Jitter but I don't think I'm going to buy it, although I am buying/keeping Max. What is the easiest way to uninstall it so I don't see those error messages at startup?

Thanks for trying out the demo. Those errors are harmless, but if you really want to eliminate your Jitter installation, here's what you need to do:

To eliminate the errors, on Remove 'jit.fpsgui' and 'jit.pwindow' (and 'jit.cellblock' if you're not running MaxMSP 4.5 or later) from the 'max-startup' folder.

OS9

  • Remove 'jitlib' from the 'Max4/MSP2' application folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-externals' from the 'externals' folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-help' from the 'max-help' folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-inspectors' from the 'inspectors' folder (inside the 'patches' folder)
  • Remove the folders 'JitterReference' and 'media' from the 'patches' folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-examples' from the 'examples' folder.
  • Remove 'suckah' and 'ubumenu' from the 'max-startup' folder.

OSX

  • Remove 'jitlib' from the MaxMSP application folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-help' from the 'max-help' folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-inspectors' from the 'inspectors' folder (inside the 'patches' folder)
  • Remove the folders 'JitterReference' and 'media' from the 'patches' folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-examples' from the 'examples' folder.
  • Remove the folder 'jitter-externals' from the '/Library/Application Support/Cycling '74' folder
  • Remove 'suckah' and 'ubumenu' from the 'max-startup' folder.
