Max, MSP, and Jitter Installation and Authorization FAQ
Do I have to authorize Max, MSP, and Jitter individually?
No. Max 5 is now one installer for all three products. When you submit an internet authorization request, you will receive the proper authorization based on what you own.
After I run the Max 5 installer for OS X, a second installer starts up and asks me for my password. What's happening?
After the Max 5 installer runs, it launches an installer for the copy protection. You'll be asked for your administrative password, because the copy protection installs files into the System folder. These copy protection files will not interfere with the operation of your system in any way, but Max 5 will not run at all unless the copy protection is installed. You shouldn't need to restart after installing
If you've already installed the copy protection once (
InterLok extensions), you don't need to do so again. Just cancel when asked for your password, and click OK at the next dialog.
How do I authorize Max 5? Where can I get complete authorization instructions?
Max 5 will operate in a fully functional demo mode for 30 days after you first install it. Within this time period you need to request an internet authorization.
If this method does not work for you, you can request what is known as a Challenge Response from Cycling74, or an asset for your iLok smart key. The Challenge/Response authorization process involves the exchange of nonsense phrases: you provide us with a "challenge" phase displayed by the software when you start it up, and we generate a "response" that you type into the dialog box displaying the challenge. After you do this successfully your software will be authorized.
